Hangs around but like that uncle you can never get rid of. Everything starts off sweet and enjoyable but by the end of the evening you'll be looking for an exit.
One of Glenmorangie's recent "finishes" range, and came as part of a 10cl tasting set I bought , along with limited editions including the standard 10 year old, Lasanta 12 and Quinta Ruban. I'll be reviewing each of these over the course of the week! Click on "glenmorangie" to your right to view the other reviews from this tasting set.
On the nose: Very sweet, dessert wines and honey mead. It's too sweet for me. I didn't like Sauternes finish wines before and this has done nothing to change my mind.
The taste: Initial quite a bit of cereal/grain, which gives way to a much sweeter, fruitier palate. Some passionfruit and a fair amount of sugary lemonade. A bit like eating day old pavlova.
The finish: Soapy, and spicy - it hangs around too long and frankly becomes a bit unpleasant in the end.
Personally... Hangs around but not like that hot girl you'd love to hook up with, more like that uncle you can never get rid of. Everything starts off sweet and enjoyable but by the end of the evening you'll be looking for an exit. I suspect lots of people are going to enjoy this because it's quite sweet but then again so was Lindsey Lohan at one stage. Jim Murray really liked this but then again... point made.
